About Us

Over three decades ago, Angela Dionne’s parents, along with the parents of some of her classmates, approached the Bridge City School Board with a proposal. Their daughters were already dancing at local studios, and the parents wanted to create a high school dance team as a new outlet for them. The school board approved the idea, and in 1986, the very first Strutters dance team was established.

Since then, the Strutters have been led by seven directors, most notably Cathy Riley, who directed the organization for 25 years. Riley was a former world-famous Kilgore College Rangerette. She retired from the Strutters and Bridge City ISD in 2022. Riley is credited with setting the standard of excellence that defines the Strutters drill team today. She pioneered the annual Strutters Spring Revue and introduced iconic routines such as “Texas Skirt” and “Conquest,” the Strutters’ halftime opener.

Currently, the Strutters are under the direction of Chassadi Decker Cude, who has led the team since 2023. A former Strutter herself, she danced under Cathy Riley from 2011 to 2015, served as a lieutenant her junior year, and was captain her senior year. Cude continues the Strutters’ legacy of excellence, leading a highly successful team that has earned two national championship titles under her direction.

The 39th line of the Bridge City Strutters is led by Captain Zoee Buchanan, First Lieutenant Addisyn Watts, and Lieutenants Marleigh Boyd, Taylor Tran, and Atalyn Hale.
